OVER-SIZED

RADIOACTIVE WASTES

Waste types - such as radioactive source material - are potentially dangerous and must be handled in line with all guidance and regulation. This requires detailed pre-planned and strictly managed procedures to be put in place to ensure that a clear chain of custody is maintained from collection through to final disposition.

Over-sized waste can be challenging to move, destroy and dispose of unless you have experience and the neccessary vendor support to allow items to be craned onto specialist haulage solutions prior to be cut up using gas axes and other mechanical systems.

BERYLLIUM OXIDE

IMG_0102_Fotor.jpg

Beryllium is an element rarely found in commercial electronics however due to it being an electrical insulator, heat conductor and lightweight it can be used in more complex electronics.

Typically, Beryllium and Beryllium Oxide (Be and BeO) components are found in high power applications on circuit boards and within radio and mobile telephony transmission equipment as well as within military platforms. Beryllium can cause a chronic respiratory disease if disposed of without proper control. This may include pre-treatment to remove the Be/BeO components to allow shredding or incineration of the rest of the WEEE. RS Recycling will manage this process correctly to manage the risk of exposure to this toxic metal and its oxides.

CONTROLLED DRUGS AND COUNTERFEIT GOODS

Controlled drugs and sensitive counterfeit and other seized goods will often need to be handled and witnessed/observed by SC cleared staff during collection, transit and during all phases of the disposal/destruction activity.

RS Recycling are experienced in handling waste where witnessing and escorting is required to maintain a robust chain of custody. When this is combined with waste management and safety expertise, it allows for the entire disposal/destruction process to be handled by s single supplier.

BODY ARMOUR & OTHER SENSITIVE OR BRANDED TEXTILES

The destruction of textile based waste streams requires rigid control to ensure that sensitive, branded or potentially counterfeited goods do not leak out of the processing system either on purpose or by accident through poor security or process control.

RS Recycling have destroyed 100's of tonnes of textile based waste utilising different destruction methods based on the type of textile and the risk.

Para-aramids and other similar ballistic or stab-proof materials require pre-treatment to remove them from other textiles. Para-aramids such as Kevlar should nit be disposed of via incineration.

RS Recycling have developed a vendor recycling route for para-aramids which ensures that all material is destroyed whilst it is recycled into fibre for re-use.
